HURRICANE HARVEY RECOVERY GRANTS PROGRAM
The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is a US non-profit community development financial institution that supports community development corporations. JWTC worked in conjunction with SETNR Management to support survivors of Hurricane Harvey under the Houston Local Initiatives Support Corporation’s (LISC) Hurricane Harvey Recovery Grants Program, This program was run through its Resilience and Recovery Network, coordinated in Texas. The program, funded, by the American Red Cross, was designed to fund repairs to basic health and safety standards to enable homeowners to return to their homes that were damaged during Hurricane Harvey.
JWTC repaired over 125 homes for this program to a safe, sanitary, and functional state ensuring that the FEMA-defined levels of habitability were fully met. The emphasis of this program was health and safety stabilization. Repairs under the program include debris removal, assessment and removal of mold, and repairs to floors, walls, and ceilings. Also, utility and electrical repairs to ensure safe heating were completed, in addition to HVAC, cooking, and refrigeration systems, and repairs to plumbing and sewage systems.
