HURRICANE IKE GALVESTON HOUSING PROGRAM TDHCA GALVESTON COUNTY
Disaster recovery for Hurricane Ike Housing, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program for the Texas Department of Housing & Community Affairs and Galveston County, included the oversight of all the construction processes and quality control (QC); this was a large-scale rehabilitation project for homeowners in Galveston County including the Bolivar Peninsula.
All projects were completed within a 90-day schedule. This program included significant lead-based paint and asbestos removal. Revenue for these single-family and rental rehabilitation projects in Ike Round 2, was estimated to be $11MM.
JWTC also authored the program’s rehabilitation construction manual and special construction methodology in this geographic area of Texas that required adherence to the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Windstorm specifications and specialized municipal requirements related to mitigation of damages from future storms.
