NYC BUILD IT BACK PROGRAM

JWTC was honored to combine forces with native New Yorkers and become a principal partner of Navesink Prestige. Our combined knowledge and disaster expertise provided our clients exceptional construction build times and quality workmanship.

The Build it Back Single-Family Program was designed to assist owners of properties with one to four units affected by Hurricane Sandy. Due to the extensive damage, multiple repair options accommodated the various levels of restoration including demolition, repair only, repair with elevation, or reconstruction. Program experience and understanding of local building processes allowed Navesink Prestige to implement strategic planning in heavily damaged areas.

Navesink Prestige contracted with LiRo Group, SLSCO, and Tishman Construction, the approved NYC-BIB developers, and established JWTC as the leading builder for Build It Back. Combined projects in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Queens were more than $200MM for demo-only, rehabilitation, or elevation/rehabilitation. Our goal was to assist in expediting repair, elevation, or rebuilding as efficiently as possible with the least impact on the homeowner's displacement during the rebuilding process.

Homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy presented challenging design and construction situations that needed to be addressed during the rehabilitation process. The proximity of neighbors and narrow lot dimensions proved challenging to navigate during the elevation phase; however, Navesink Prestige completed all elevation and demolition projects without incident. Daily coordination of inspectors and site supervisors kept production times low. We also worked closely with local union representatives, homeowners, and developers to meet all regulations and program requirements.

The project scope included developing scopes of work for individual projects, bidding and documentation, implementation of a data management system, conducting site visits, daily site supervision, coordination with building code officials, attending weekly progress conferences, contract award procedures, conducting necessary construction, submitting invoices for payment, project closeout and homeowner relations.
